We are seeking a dedicated Senior Manager, Residential & Commercial Lending (Mortgage Origination and Underwriting) to join our high-performing underwriting team. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

Senior Manager, Residential & Commercial Lending – Responsibilities
As the Senior Manager, Residential & Commercial Lending at Hillmount Capital, you will be responsible for the following:
Origination
- Sourcing, developing, and maintaining relationships with brokers, referral sources, and borrowers.
- Leveraging a proven referral network who fits our client profile.
- Negotiating loan terms to meet both the interests of the client and our risk tolerance.
- Participating in business development activities, tradeshows, and presentations as required.
- Contributing to marketing initiatives and communications.
- Managing broker complaints and taking appropriate action to resolve them.
Underwriting
- Staying current with underwriting guidelines and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures.
- Coordinating the assemblance of due diligence underwriting information.
- Managing the underwriting process while applying sound judgment and escalating when appropriate.
- Leading junior staff to expedite loan document processing and ensuring accurate analysis of financial statements and loan applications.
- Presenting loan recommendations to the President for final approval.
- Reviewing and issuing mortgage commitments, ensuring completeness and appropriate conditions.
- Maintaining communication with mortgage brokers during the sign back process.
- Providing excellent customer service, including timely responses/follow up with brokers, while building and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Collaborating with the Mortgage Fulfillment team to closely manage the closing process.
- Address material changes and provide appropriate recommendations in a timely fashion.
- Preparing loan summary packages for investment partners, both internal and external.
Skills
- Strong analytical/mathematical skills that can be applied to complex commercial and residential lending opportunities.
- Strong leadership, communication (both written and verbal)/presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, time management, and project coordination skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment but also able to work well independently.
- Excellent business development and relationship management skills.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Education
- Undergraduate degree in business administration, finance, commerce, or real estate.
- MBA/CPA would be an asset.
Qualifications/Experience
- 5 + years of mortgage origination/ underwriting experience or relevant work experience in real estate or finance.
- Turnaround/insolvency experience would be an asset.
- The candidate will either have or will be required to obtain their Mortgage Agent Licence.
